Journey with Masters: a Creative Retreat in Rajasthan, India
IN PERSON, March 16-21 in Rajasthan, India. Hosted by Arteva Club.
Arteva presents its first-ever journey, a rare opportunity for artists of all levels and mediums to paint, learn, and reconnect with their creative spirit alongside five of the Arteva’s Master Artists: Aimee Erickson, Haidee-Jo Summers, Harsh Agrawal, Andy Evansen, and Aaron Schuerr. There are only 15 spots total available for students.
More than a workshop, this week is envisioned as a luxury creative retreat - an immersive experience of art, culture, and camaraderie with a low student-to-teacher ratio. Together, we slow down, explore, and paint in a place of breathtaking beauty.
For those who live to capture the soul of a place through paint, Rajasthan is an endless canvas from golden desert forts to opulent palaces. Here, history, nature, and culture intertwine.
Think Like a Painter: Still Life and Portrait
IN PERSON. Scottsdale Artists' School, March 30 - April 3, 2026
In nature, light reveals color. In painting, color reveals light. Learning to understand lighting phenomena gives us more freedom in choosing how we paint what we see, rather than having to look to nature for every decision. Plan on some serious learning in a lighthearted atmosphere. Students may choose still life or portrait.
Plein Air in France
IN PERSON. Hosted by Workshops in France. April 27-May 5, 2026 in France.
Spend nine unforgettable days living the dream, saying "oui," and honing your plein air skills in this iconic region of France. We will stay in a château (of course) in the countryside of Normandy; we will eat French cuisine (baguettes and brie, anyone?) and visit some of the surroundings including places where Monet and Van Gogh painted. Walk in their footsteps, breathe their air, get your paints out. Painting locations will all be French: markets, vistas, villages, even the clouds are French.
Fruit, Flowers, and Fun: the Backlit Still Life
IN PERSON. Hosted by Acrylic University on Camano Island, Washington. June 23-26, 2026. Medium: acrylic or oil. Demos will be in both mediums.
This is a four day paint-from-life workshop in the studio. Still life provides us the opportunity to set up challenges so we can paint to learn.
Did you know: there are three types of still life: formal, found, and part of a larger scene. In this workshop we will do smaller setups and study how backlighting works. Good news! It simplifies things! And if you'd rather do front lit, that's fine too. Weather permitting, outdoor setups will be an option as well. Start with what you do know and gain skills by doing exercises that isolate different aspects of painting and will inform your decisions from here on. Fun and informative workshop for all skill levels.

Hydra sounds AMAZING. It's accessible by ferry and since the citizens voted to preserve the architecture and character, there are no wheeled vehicles on the island. Charm, anyone?
